The night of the fifteenth day of the first month is called the Lantern Festival. The ancient times are called shangyuan. During the han dynasty, the court made sacrifices to the Taoist priest on this day, from dusk until dawn, so that he could make an exception in the evening and allow the people to watch. The celebration began in the tang dynasty, which was the custom of buddhists from the west. It was only fifteen nights, and fourteen and sixteen nights later. Display of the lights also become more and more skillful, the pattern is also more and more numerous. The royal office was even more luxurious. When he was in the city of changan, he set up a 20-foot "lamp wheel", which was covered with colorful silk, decorated with golden jade, and hung 50, 000 lamps. The tang dynasty poet su tang once wrote the poem "the fifteenth night of the first month", which depicts the lively scene of the lighting candles in the time:
The fire and the silver,
The star bridge is locked.
The dust goes with the horse,
The moon is coming.
In the song dynasty, people wrote riddles on the lanterns and guessed the prize.
The food of the Lantern Festival is also called yuanxiao, or "tangyuan". The flavor of the dumplings varies from place to place, but the symbol of the league member is the same. As the Taiwanese proverb says: "it's a good reunion." Let us look forward to the day when Taiwan returns and the reunification of the motherland comes soon!
